A clean, light, herbaceous aroma reminiscent of black tea leaves makes this delightful oil a fine addition to any blend. Historically used in women's preparations because of its reputed value in soothing PMS, it is a fine addition to a bath oil or soak. Also traditionally used for acne, boils, dandruff, depression, migraine, muscular aches and pains, nervous tension and stress, oily skin and hair, wrinkles. Various sources state that the scalreol content contained within Clary Sage may induce an "estrogen-like action." For that reason, it would be wise for those with breast cancer, at high risk for breast cancer or that need to carefully regulate their estrogen levels avoid Clary Sage. Due to the spasmolytic effect on the uterus in vitro, caution should be used in pregnancy and parturition.
